Five step model of EBP

You may have identified factors such as lack of time, difficulty in finding evidence, assessing research quality or deciding whether the findings of studies apply to your patient.

This has led to the development of the "Five–Step Model of EBP":

1 Asking Answerable Questions - to focus your efforts on what matters

2 Finding the Best Evidence - to make best use of your scarce time

3 Appraising the Evidence for its Validity and Importance - to avoid bias in research and draw the right conclusions from it

4 Applying the Evidence - to integrate your patient's unique condition

5 Evaluating your Performance - to help you to improve

By applying this model when you encounter uncertainty in practice you can overcome some of these difficulties.
