In this Principles of searching section, we have learnt that:
![]() |
Text word searching allows you to find any occurrence of a term in a document |
|
|
Thesaurus searching allows you to use index terms to be more specific in your search - in Medline, thesaurus terms are known as Medial subject Headings or MeSH |
![]() |
Using
OR allows you to broaden the search in order to retrieve all documents
on a particular subject - this results in a larger number of documents. |
![]() |
Using
AND allows you to narrow the search in order to retrieve documents containing
both terms - this results in fewer documents. |
